In 1982 Dr. Reed served nine months as Interim Pastor of Sharon Baptist Church, and in January 1983 he was installed as Pastor of the Sharon Baptist Church. As a result of his pastoring, prayerful teaching, and implementation of ministries and staff, the church has grown from approximately 200 to 6,000 members and growing. Dr. Reed provides leadership to nineteen full-time staff persons and seven part-time staff persons. Dr. Reed's ministry has produced several "sons" in the ministry who are now pastoring their own churches. In January 1998 Dr. Reed founded and established the Sharon Bible Fellowship in the Washington, D.C. area.

Dr. Reed is so grateful to the Lord for his many blessings. His life verse is I Timothy 1:15 which reads, "This is a true saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."
